Hello! 
I’m James, a London based lead visual designer with a broad skillset in all things digital. 
My love of design grew from playing in bands as a teenager, when I discovered I liked doing the band logos and artwork more. After art school, I stated out working in design for print and branding, leading the fundamentals of design, layout and typography, before I discovered my passion for digital visual design and UI. 
Since then I’ve been lucky enough to work for some of London’s most renowned digital agencies and the odd in-house in both contract and permanent positions. I’ve had great opportunities to work with amazingly talented people on fantastic projects for great clients, developing a wide range of skills and learning new methodologies and creative technologies. Origin Story is an immersive in-store experince for De Beers aiming to revolutionise the way we look at diamond retail and secure a new generation of customers with a different set of values. The MLP contains a number of exciting emerging technologies including Blockchain and a world-first deployment of Stable Diffusion GenAI.Taking the customer from discovery to comparison to purchase and beyond, Origin Story aims to reposition the diamond retail market to include emerging affluent Gen Z and female self-purchase customers. It explains the benefits of buying a unique natural diamond over a generic lab-grown alternative. 
Users can learn about each diamond's individual properties using data stored in Blockchain, learn about its formation and show it came from an ethical source. Users can also learn about De Beers' commitment to the environment, sustainability and society.

GenAI Deployment 

	
	Research found that customers felt their final purchase lacked a moment of ceremony. We developed a post-purchase experience which stored the diamond's blockchain information in their custom digital vault and generated a unique, shareable Gen AI artwork using the individual characteristics of the customer's diamond in the prompt, the world-first deployment of Stable Diffusion as an API.

Find Your Diamond

	
	The service design process identified a customer type who need a guiding-hand in begining their diamond purchase experience. Using behavioural science algorithms we developed a short visual questionnaire to discern the customer's personal style. User testing proved it to be incredibly accurate and helpful.

A new startup from the people who created Vitality, YuLife is a gamified wellbeing app for business. Employees are inspired to be more more physically active and mindful, and earn real-life rewards along the way. 
The map represents the stages of the emotional journey of self-improvement, with the animal characters as your guide. Complete the daily wellness challenges to move up the continuous-scrolling progress map, through the water, desert, forest and mountain worlds, and compete with your colleagues to win rewards. 
Not your run-of-the-mill ‘grey rectangles’ experience, the highly illustrative design style of the native app went on to form the core of the company’s visual identity, including a style guide and asset library.

An extensive brand positioning exercise defined the visual style and tone of voice for both Secret DJ and C-Burn with the brand statement ‘your music soul mate’ at the centre.

Animation lead for  the UK’s fastest-growing online supermarket’s ‘Value Worth Talking About’ and ‘Food for Thought’ campaigns for the multi-award winning St Luke’s agency. 
Created in the style of a mockumentary where animated produce share praise for Ocado from real customers, the ads ran in 30-second and 10-second versions, supported by a series of 15-second and 6-second films in all formats across social channels, and digital display and outdoor ads at London’s Waterloo and Victoria stations.
Food for Thought was their most successful social campaign to date and reached an impressive engagement rate of 33% (Source Ocado, 2024).
